With winter looming once again, many holidaymakers will be jetting off to the warmer climates. However, if embracing the chillier weather and hitting the slopes for some skiing and snowboarding takes your fancy, The Alps is most definitely the place to be.

If snowboarding is your forte, Les Portes du Soleil is supposedly the ‘capital’, and the long established resort of Morzine offers the facilities for beginners too. On the other hand, if a family ski holiday is what you’re after, La Chapelle d’Abondance is highly reputable for this. If you choose this option then ensure you get some good skiing travel insurance which covers you if the slopes get the better of you!
