Kookfontein Sauvignon Blanc
In winter the fields of the West Coast come alive with stunning purple, white and orange flowers. Tourists flock to see this natural wonder, but there’s much more to the area. While you’re there why not try some of the local wine?
Kookfontein Sauvignon Blanc is a renowned boutique wine of origin in the seaside town of Lambert’s Bay. The Kookfontein farm is situated just off the R364 only 5km outside of Lambert’s Bay on the West Coast. The working farm has belonged to the Engelbrecht family for over two centuries.
In 2012 Kookfontein won a South African Gold Medal for Best Young Wine in the Olifants River Region. The wine continues to improve with every harvest.
Grown on the northern bank of the Jackals Rivier, near the rustic seaside town of Lamberts Bay. The small boutique vineyard overlooks the nutrient rich kelp coast of the Atlantic Ocean, five kilometres to the west. During the summer months a cool, crisp sea breeze influences the ripening process of the grapes, ensuring the prefect growing conditions for a fine palatable white wine.
The wine is available at all restaurants in Lambert’s Bay as well establishments further up and down the coast, as well as inland.
